Tri-County Insurance Agency got its start in 1948, when Harriette Williford
Whatley founded the agency then known as The Williford Co. The Agency was a
property and casualty agency with offices located at 111 Mount, Fairfield,
Freestone County, Texas.
In 1991, Mrs. Whatley bought out the Childs-Bonner Agency, then owned by Kay
Ray, and merged it with The Williford Co. The Childs-Bonner Agency had been
founded in the 1890's and was the oldest insurance agency in Freestone County.
C. E. "Charlie" Micheletti joined The Williford Co. in 1979 and
served as a partner in the Agency until purchasing the Agency from Mrs. Whatley
in 1993, and changed the name to Tri-County Insurance Agency. The Agency,
although predominantly a property and casualty insurance agency, did write life
and health products on a limited basis.
In January, 1994, Micheletti merged with Sandy Spikes, who also had an agency
predominantly of life and health products, but who also wrote some property and
casualty insurance. Spikes had been a licensed local recording agent for
property and casualty as well as a life and health agent since 1978 and in 1989
obtained her securities licenses. Together, Micheletti and Spikes incorporated
their two agencies into one agency, known as Tri-County Insurance Agency, Inc.
d/b/a Tri-County Insurance Agency, with offices still located at 111 South Mount
Street, Fairfield, Freestone County, Texas.
The Agency is now a full service insurance agency handling all lines of
insurance and financial and estate planning services to better serve its
customers' needs. The Agency represents several major companies in all lines of
insurance.
Tri-County's motto is "A New And Pleasant Experience In One-Stop
Insurance Shopping," They try to portray this motto as the Agency strives
hard at obtaining the best coverage at affordable prices while at the same time
making it not only a "one-stop" shopping experience for all insurance
needs, but a pleasant one. They enjoy visiting with their customers and friends
while serving their insurance needs. The Agency prides itself on friendliness
and fast, efficient service.
The Agency is manned by its owners, C. E. "Charlie" Micheletti and
Sandy Spikes. Together, both of them have over 40 years of insurance experience
in all lines of insurance. The Agency has undergone some major changes in recent
years all with the customers' best interests at heart.
The Agency predominantly serves the "tri-county" area of Leon,
Limestone and Freestone Counties and is looking forward to continued growth
